Since my safecat bug report was blown off by the developer, I've posted my unofficial NMU here. I've got the source here, so you can build it yourself; if you wish, you can use the i386 binary package that's here, built on a sarge system. (The oldest version here is built on woody, for you veterans.)
The reason I did all this is because safecat is supposed to come with a program called maildir which is extremely useful in writing .qmail files (or .procmailrc files) for scripted delivery to maildir format mailboxes. In fact, if you grab the upstream source and install it using the author's instructions, you'll get the maildir program and its manual page. However, the Debian package doesn't build this script correctly or put it into /usr/bin -- it's simply left sitting in the /usr/share/doc/safecat/examples directory where it's not very useful. So I fixed it, which is a 4-line change. My fix was rejected by the Debian developer with a rude comment asking why I didn't read the changelog. Apparently Teemu Hukkanen feels that leaving the more visible (and useful) half of a package in the wrong place is better than fixing his build process to conform to what the upstream author intended. Even if the change is just 4 lines. Even if someone else gives him those 4 lines.
