Greg's Music Links

Alice In Chains Alice In Chains is a Seattle-based heavy metal/grunge band. The vocal harmonies (Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell) are uniquely eerie. Jerry has a solo album, and Layne has passed away, unfortunately.
Tori Amos If I had to choose a single favorite artist, it would be Tori Amos. Tori seems to be one of the most popular artists to create a home page for... and while I don't have one of my own, you might want to check out Yahoo's list of Tori Amos pages.
The B-52's The B-52's (with lead singers Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson) have been rocking for over 20 years. They haven't had a new studio album since 1992's Good Stuff, but they still tour... and we haven't lost hope yet!
J.S. Bach Johann Sebastian Bach, perhaps the greatest musical composer of all time.
Ludwig van Beethoven Ludwig van Beethoven, whose ninth symphony (written when he was completely deaf) is one of the greatest symphonic works ever.
Jane Child Jane Child is one of the most underrated artists I know. Her second album Here Not There is simply incredible. Her long-awaited third album Surge is available on her new record label, and is also excellent.
Concrete Blonde Concrete Blonde (with lead singer Johnette Napolitano) released 5 studio albums through 1993, of which Mexican Moon is my favorite. Johnette was involved in many other projects after that, and then the band reunited to release Group Therapy in 2002 and Mojave in 2004 (both of which are NON-RIAA!).
Garbage Garbage is a relatively new band, formed when Bruce Vig and some of his friends decided to try being performers instead of producers. They invited Shirley Manson to be their lead singer, and with her help they've put out three great albums to date.
Heart Heart (with sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson on vocals and guitars) has had a long and prosperous career. Their songs run the gamut from the psychedelic "Magic Man" to the hard-rocking "Barracuda" to the tender "Dog & Butterfly". Their new album Jupiter's Darling (July 2004) is NON-RIAA!
Jimi Hendrix Jimi Hendrix, perhaps the most pioneering guitar player who ever lived.
Jethro Tull Jethro Tull is an amazing progressive rock band. Their album Aqualung is a classic that no rock collection should lack. For a more diverse introduction, try A Little Light Music.
Madonna Madonna has been a sex symbol and pop icon since her self-titled 1983 debut album. Throughout her career she's been a dancer, a singer, a songwriter, an actress and a record company executive.
Massive Attack Massive Attack are the originators of a new genre of music known as trip-hop. Their third album Mezzanine is brilliant, and their first two albums are classics. They released a new album, 100th Window, in 2003.
Nine Inch Nails Nine Inch Nails is an industrial group led by Trent Reznor. Great music for violent video games (like Quake 1, for which Reznor composed the soundtrack).
Red Hot Chili Peppers Red Hot Chili Peppers plays funky rock-and-roll to get you going. Blood Sugar Sex Magik is one of their best albums.
Rush Rush is a Canadian progressive rock power-trio. Their songs span decades of musical innovation, from the epic "2112" to the rock anthems "Tom Sawyer" and "Free Will".
Stone Temple Pilots Stone Temple Pilots are a Seattle-based rock/grunge band. Their first two albums (Core and Purple) are great stuff.
Igor Stravinsky Igor Stravinsky: his Rite of Spring is amazing.
Veruca Salt Veruca Salt released two full-length albums and an EP. Eight Arms to Hold You is wonderful. After a break-up, Louise Post has reformed Veruca Salt with a new line-up, and they've released a new album called Resolver. Nina Gordon has released a solo album.
'Weird' Al Yankovic "Weird" Al Yankovic sings parodies of popular songs, as well as clever original music. Often his parodies become more well-known that the songs they spoof, such as "Fat" (a parody of Michael Jackson's forgettable minor hit "Bad").
Yes Yes is one of the original progressive rock bands. They've changed their line-up many times over the last 30+ years, but their music remains timeless.

This page is generally out of date, both in terms of new releases by artists on this page, and in terms of artists who should be here but aren't. I apologize for both of these flaws.
